Loot System - EPGP (Repost)

Hey guys, so over the next couple of weeks we'll be working out the kinks of our loot system. As the title of the thread indicates, we'll be using EPGP. It was originally designed for WoW, which is where I had my introduction to it, and ultimately fell in love with it. Of all the various kinds of DKP systems I've used (e.g. zero sum, suicide kings, etc) it is, in my opinion, vastly superior in terms of fairness and manageability. Loot council was never really a consideration for some obvious reasons.

To get right into it, I'll explain what EPGP is. First, it's an acronym for Effort Points Gear Points. There is a third acronym in play, but I'll get to that.

Effort Points
As the name suggests, you gain EP by participating, or putting forth effort. There will be a few different ways in which one can accrue EP:

  • Showing up on time (in the raid, zoned in, buffed up, ready to pull at 6:15). 60
  • Time spent in the raid (progression). 3/min
  • Time spent in the raid (farm). 1/min
  • Mini bosses killed (progression). 120
  • Mini bosses killed (farm). 60
  • Bosses killed (progression). 200
  • Bosses killed (farm). 100
  • Single night full clears. 300
  • Donations of Runic/Elemental Fluxes.* Value TBD

*The way we will be handling this: If you want credit, you must send me a mail in game with either the Runic or Elemental Flux, or ALL of the pieces required to make one. The subject must read: "Donation for EP". If the mail does not contain the Flux or all requisite pieces, I will be sending it back to you.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that time spent progressing and progression kills on mini bosses and bosses are worth more than farmed content. That being said, when such a time comes that GA, DS, and whatever else is on farm and we still clear it, we want to give our raiders an incentive to keep their focus and their heads in the game and get the shit done in a timely manner. Therefore, single night full clears of a dungeon will result in an EP bonus in addition to the EP gained from farm time spent and farm kills. We will be utilizing a wait list, and all members of the wait list will receive full EP gains. You can read more about wait list functionality further down.

Gear Points
Continuing with self-evident descriptions, GP is given to a player for receiving gear, or loot. An item’s GP value, while not necessarily unique, is dependent on iLevel, rarity, and gear slot, so few items will have similar values. Legendaries, and eventually artifacts, being weighted more than epics (and artifacts over legendaries) should be a no-brainer, but I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what I mean by gear slot. I am using an addon to assist me with the math and determine the actual GP values for the gear. Here’s the break down:

  • High Weighting – Weapon, Chests, and Legs
  • Medium Weighting – Feet, Hands, Shields, Head, and Shoulders.
  • Low Weighting – Implants, Weapon Attachments, Support System, and Gadgets
  • Epic Dyes - 200
Offspec gear will now be handled through a priority system and will award 0 GP.

Priority Rating
Earlier, I mentioned a third acronym. It is PR, or Priority Rating. Your PR is determined by your EP÷ GP. Again, just so I’m clear, this is a ratio. That being said, you cannot divide by a zero, so everyone is given a base 100GP. This value will not be subject to decay. Your PR is indicative of your priority for a given item. This is a living number. It will change every 15 minutes as you gain EP, and then change again as you receive GP for loot received.

Decay
Like all elegant systems, there is a decay built into this system. Every week, both EP and GP will be decayed by 15%.

The Looting Process
Ah, the part everyone really cares about. So some pants drop. Member A and Member B both want them. They whisper the Master Looter their interest in the item. The Master Looter then checks the PR of all interested parties, and the person with the highest PR gets the item. In the issue of a tie, a /roll will determine the recipient, or the members can talk it out. The member awarded the item is then given the appropriate GP thus changing their PR.
In the following spoiler tag is a TL;DR series of numbers. If you like math, and think the numbers in an example will help, then show the spoiler. Otherwise, keep reading.

The Wait List and You
Earlier, I mentioned the existence of a wait list. As a progression minded guild, we want every member attending every raid. However, we know that’s unrealistic. Shit happens. We all have social lives outside of the game, so if you can’t make it, then no sweat. This also means that our target raid ready members is in excess of 20 people, so on the nights that everyone shows up, we will be using a waitlist. The raid will largely be filled on a first come basis. That being said, if you sat the waitlist Tuesday, we will make every effort to give you a spot on Thursday. All wait list members will receive %100 EP gains; however, there is a tradeoff.
You must be in the game by the entrance to the raid. You want to log and play an alt? No problem. Park your character by the entrance. You cannot be afk without giving notice. Again, shit happens. We get it. Let us know what’s up if you can. A tell will suffice. If we catch you afk without notice, you’ll lose the EP you’ve earned up to that point. No arguments.
Lastly, if you have cleared your schedule and made time for the raid, but are put on the wait list, and there are other things you want to go do, no problem. Log off; go do your thing. You will receive 10% of the EP the raid earns as opposed to the shared 100% the active/online wait list people earn.

Disclaimer
I did my best to ensure that all values and information was final, but understand that this is a living project. Changes may need to be made. I will have a changelog posted below here, in addition to the edits being made in the document. Further, if you have questions, PM me on here, and I will either type out a response, or if you prefer we can talk on TS.

About us

Warpigs is a semi-hardcore multi game community, for both MMOs and other genres. Our core, which has largely remained the same, started back in 2014. Warpigs first got started in Wildstar and has since branched out to several other game including, Black Desert Online, Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm as some of our most active games. We also have a strong internal following for both Dauntless and Ashes of Creation.

Warpigs function as a tight knit family-esque guild, which is not to say that our conversations are G-rated. Quite the opposite, but when you're one of us, we've got your back. Words fly pretty freely, and I'm always of the opinion that if you play an MMO, or any game with a social player base, you need thick skin and know not to take things personally. With that being said, we are a well organised and have a fairly mature membership, and as such we offer a very stable guild that we hope will be here for many more years to come.

Warpigs are dedicated to a friendly, team focused, fun-loving gaming environment where every member is important and not just a number on a roster. We seek to foster long term friendships among members and enhance the online gaming experience by virtue of those friendships.
